- 01 [Windows] Does the university support Windows 11 upgrades?

Korea University supports upgrades to Windows 11 Education for PCs with valid activation.
1. Students and Personal PCs: One-time upgrade support using an Office 365 account upon OS reinstallation.
※ The operating system will be deactivated if the Office365 account is deleted due to graduation or resignation.
2. Administrative and Lecture Room PCs: Upgrade supported through Microsoft EES for educational institutions.

Korea University only supports upgrades to Windows 11 Education.
Genuine activation is not provided for PCs without a pre-installed operating system.
You must purchase a license for the initial Windows installation and activation.
- 03 [Windows] Can I continue using Windows 11 Education after graduation/resignation?

If you have upgraded to Windows 11 Education via a one-time activation linked to your school Office365 account, the operating system will be deactivated once the Office365 account is deleted.
The Office365 account will be deactivated and deleted one month after the graduation/resignation date.
Please back up your data and switch operating systems before this date.

You must download the installation files from the [Microsoft official website] and create a bootable disk.

※ Genuine activation only works on university-owned PCs connected to the campus network.
※ Not available for use on personal PCs.
- 05 [Windows] Windows 11 upgrade cannot proceed.

If you are unable to upgrade to Windows 11, please check the following:
[Student/Personal PC]
No license after Windows 11 installation
- The previous operating system (Windows 10) on the PC must be properly activated.
- The Windows 11 upgrade granted through the Office365 account is valid for a one-time use only and will not apply to multiple attempts.
- Logging into an already installed Windows 11 will not complete the upgrade; reinstallation is required.
[Administrative/Lecture Room PC]
1. "This version of Windows cannot be upgraded" message appears
Download and run the [PC Health Check Tool] to verify your current PC specifications.
If system requirements are not met, the upgrade cannot proceed. In this case, hardware upgrades or PC replacement may be necessary.
2. Automatic recovery programs (such as Maestro) are installed
If an automatic recovery program is installed, the upgrade will not proceed.
Please uninstall the program, complete the upgrade, and reinstall it afterward.
- 06 [Windows] BitLocker decryption is required on Windows.

For security reasons, BitLocker encryption may be applied to drives during certain operations.
If you have personally set up the BitLocker key, you must store the recovery key on another medium (such as a mobile device or paper).
1. Personal/Local Account PC
Refer to the [Find your BitLocker recovery key] link.
2. PC upgraded to Windows 11 using a school Office365 account
Request the recovery key from the school administrator (license@korea.ac.kr).
※ Recovery keys cannot be provided if the school Office365 account is deleted one month after graduation/resignation.
※ For personal/local accounts, the recovery key is not stored by the school administrator.
- 07 [Drive] Is there any limitation on the shared drive functionality?

SharePoint and Teams shared drive functionality is also subject to limitations and is aggregated into individual storage quotas.
- 08 [Drive] If there are issues checking individual storage usage or encountering errors during backup, what are the solutions?

Individual purchases are not supported, and this policy is consistent across other universities as well.
- 10 [Drive] Are there any restrictions on file size or the number of files when downloading from OneDrive?

During the process of downloading files from OneDrive, the following limitations apply:
(Max file size : 250GB, Total file limit: 10,000 files, Folder size limit: 10,000 files)
For file backups, if the size or number of files exceeds these policies during download, request to split the download accordingly.
